Save A Life Day events taking place throughout the Mountain State to combat opioid addiction with education and resources

West Virginia (WOAY) – Today is Save a Life Day, a powerful community event aimed at combating the opioid crisis, one life at a time.

Volunteers are stationed across the Mountain State, distributing free naloxone, also known as Narcan.

Naloxone is a proven, life-saving medication that can rapidly reverse an opioid overdose.

It’s safe, effective, and does not affect someone who hasn’t taken opioids, making it a critical tool for bystanders and first responders alike.

West Virginia has been struck by the opioid epidemic, with over 75% of fatal overdoses in 2019 involving opioids.
