New Mexico’s health councils are ramping up overdose‑prevention efforts through the state’s new ONEbox program, a coordinated initiative aimed at getting Naloxone (Narcan) into more public spaces and training more residents to respond during an emergency.
The program, launched this spring through the New Mexico Department of Health, provides free Narcan kits, wall‑mounted boxes and standardized training materials to schools, businesses, tribal communities and local governments. Health councils say the approach is already helping them reach organizations that had never before considered carrying overdose‑reversal medication.
