Dr. Susan Bissett's contribution to an Orion Policy Institute article on the drug epidemic

The drug epidemic has changed over time. We are no longer dealing with prescription opioids (which have since been heavily regulated regarding prescription and dispensing) and heroin. Fentanyl is the driving factor changing the nature of America’s drug epidemic—with its inclusion in methamphetamine, recreational drugs, and counterfeit pills driving the increase in overdose deaths.
