Susan Bissett: New, nonopioid drugs will curb overdoses (Opinion)

WVDII

Like most people across this great state of ours, I have had direct experience with the opioid epidemic.

As a former college administrator, I’ve lost students to overdoses. I have also lost friends and colleagues to overdoses. And, I’ve witnessed far too many friends lose siblings, parents and loved ones to overdoses.

I am not alone. Thousands of West Virginians and millions of Americans have had to deal with the devastating impact overdose death creates in our hearts, among our families and in our communities. In fact, just about every resident of this state has been touched by this crisis in one way or another.
